Rear tire fitment and back space question

Ok guys I have done some major searching and cant find any answers.I am about to order some new wheels and tires and want to make sure they will fit.I had a set of weld drag lites front and rear the rears were 8in by 4.5 back space and fronts were 3.5 by 1 5/8 back spaceing.I was wondering if I could fit a 8in rear rim with a 295/55/15 mickey thompson drag radial.Heres where it gets tricky I have seen manny people run the mickey thompson et drag which measures 28.1 inches tall annd has 11.7 section which is buldge to buldge. The drag radial will measure 27.8 inches tall and 12.0 section.Do u think It will fit?I was also thinking of going with 5.5 back spaceing. Fronts I am converting to ls1 brake conversion was hopeing to run 4inch wheels with 2.25 back spaceing.

Even with the correct wheels 4.5 you will still need a small 1/2 inch spacer on the rears. I had pro stars on my camaro for a while.

275 60 15's will clear, I dont know if 295s will clear though with out a spacer. I know 275s hit my air shocks.

Why do you say I will need a spacer with 4.5 bs?I Curently have welds with 275 60 15s fit like a glove no ishues.

I figured mabey to go with the 5.5 bs just to move the wheel in a little and possibly use a small spacer if needed to get it perfect.

Re: Rear tire fitment and back space question

I know Bogarts or Holeshots can be ordered with unusual backspacing, like 4-7/8" or similar. One thing I've heard is that a 9" wheel with a 4-7/8" backspacing fits well with slicks, so that might be worth looking at. I've just never been a fan of spacers if it's going to be raced at all. Maybe just paranoid.
