non-Camaro tire question

Sorry to ask this non-Camaro tire question here but I know I'll get good advise.

Would it hurt to put 185x70x14 on my son's 97 Corolla which calls for 175x65x14?
He needs a least one wheel since be bent one up pretty good and I found a local guy with 2 185x70x14 on wheels for a good buy. The local tire place wouldn't sell me a 70 series tire for it??

Re: non-Camaro tire question

185/70 14 is 24.3" tall
175/65 14 is 23" tall

The rule of thumb is anything over 1" taller means you could be over loading the brakes. The taller tire is also almost 1/2" wider so you might have fitment issues and of course if replacing only 2 he won't be able to rotate the tires. I almost forgot, the speedo can be effected too which could bring tickets into the cost factor...

Re: non-Camaro tire question

What if I put those 2 on the back and use them until they are worn enough to replace with the right size?
