69-70 SS style wheels?

Styling wise I see other brands(Ford,Mopar,Buick,etc...) with a very similar looking wheel called Magnum or Magnum 500 wheels. Was this style of wheel commonly used by Chevy,Ford,Mopar,Buick,etc..... back in the day. A friend said that it is a "Mustang" wheel only, is this true?

They are similar looking but are different, this 5-Spoke rim was used for 1969 Camaro 1970 Chevelle, I believe were used Big Block cars and or SS models.

Re: 69-70 SS style wheels?

Thanks! I am looking at American Racing Vintage 500 wheels in 17x9.5(275-40-17) and 17x8(235-45-17) and adding a "vulcanized" red stripe tire for a throwback look. A modern pro-touring feel with a classic look. I think it would look pretty good since my 69 has a low aggressive stance.

That is a great look, good luck, there are so many rims to choose from these days.

Ya, I know my ideas and choices seem to change every month. I've looked at Budnik Fontanas,Billet Specialties Rally,Wheel Vintiques Billet Rallys,etc...... but they all seem to look similar to a lot of other combos that 69s are already running. I don't think too many 69s are running this AR 500 wheel in wide 17s especially with a red stripe tire to set it off!

My new favorite '69-'70 wheel. Powder coat any color between the spokes.

Re: 69-70 SS style wheels?

I saw those New Gen 500s on a couple of pro-touring forums and that's what gave me the idea. It's like $2480 for a 17" set with powder coated windows. Wife would kill me!

Re: 69-70 SS style wheels?

In my opinion the stock 15" SS wheels are the best loking wheel that can bolt on a 69 Camaro. whem my SS/RS is done it's a no brainer for me.

I believe that the original factory SS wheels only came in 14" size...
Now they're also being reproduced in the 15" sizes.
