Wheel BS with Chevelle rear

I have a 12 bolt in my car, but the stock wheels are way too pushed outwards.. so I'm going to assume I have a Chevelle rear.
What kind of backspacing do I need to fit wheels on there. It rubs horrible on the rear even using not very wide tires.

I want to order new rims anyways [mine are warped] but I don't know what kind of rear backspacing I would need.

Re: Wheel BS with Chevelle rear

It'll be easy to tell if it's a Chevelle rear end. The Chevelles used a 4 link set up with coil springs instead of leaf springs. If someone welded leak spring pads on it and cut the eyelets off the Chevelle rear end, it'll be obvious. What is the casting number/date of your rear end? What does it measure drum to drum?

Experience...... It's what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.

Re: Wheel BS with Chevelle rear

So I actually feel like it's a Camaro rear end, with slightly longer axles, if that makes sense. I won't be down near the car for a few days to check..
But it's about an inch wider each side than a 10 bolt?

Basically. My car was originally a 12 bolt.. then someone swapped in a 10 bolt when restoring it because the 12 was trashed.

The tires and rims fit perfectly fine with the 10 bolt with lots of room. Now they're pushed out towards the outside of the wheel well.

I will check when I get home in a few days.
