how do I tell original rally cap from aftermarket??

just picked up some rallys ...original steel wheel..or at least I think so....and was wondering about the cap....can I identify from the numbers/letters on the inside of the cap?..or on wheel itself?

The center cap on GM ones is screwed to the center with four hex head screws. Not sure about reproductions. They even make little steel cables you can attach to a screw and wheel lug to keep someone from walking off with them so easily.....unless they carry a set of dykes with them in which case it will slow them down exactly two seconds per cap.

Yes, the center cap will have GM numbers and the wheels will have a 2 letter code by the valve stem hole. The 68 and later "Derby" caps are 392xxxx. There's other notable differences as well, but the numbers are the best way to distinguish from the repops.

What about telling them apart as you stand next to a 69 YENKO Camaro.

Cosmetically how hard for 99% of Camaro enthusiasts to tell.

All the hex screws and part numbers are hidden from site.

I have a box of maybe 8-10 originals and cant make up a quality set of 4 for a show car.
