20 inch rear wheels

Ok, I have read everything I could find but I still can't get to the bottom of this one. If my 69 is lowered 3 inches in the back with hotchkis leafs, can I put a 20 inch wheel on there and still fit a 275 wide tire? If not, what is the biggest tire, and also what is the widest rim? If I have missed a thread where this is covered, direct me to it if you can. Disc brakes, 8.5 inch ten bolt, aftermarket quarters, lowered three inches from stock.

Re: 20 inch rear wheels

I have 3" blocks under the rear of my 12 bolt with a stock multi leaf setup and I am running 285/30/20 on the rear of mine. I haven't had any issues with the rear of mine yet.

Re: 20 inch rear wheels

Did you have to trim or roll the fender lip? Are the quarters aftermarket or original?

Re: 20 inch rear wheels

I didn't have to do any trimming or roll the lips. The quarters were replaced at some point before I got the car. There is a little room in the fender well but I wouldn't push the issue by putting a larger wheel and tire underneath it.

Re: 20 inch rear wheels

I can't say about the 20's but if you have mini-tubs you can go up to 12" wide wheels with those leaves and offset shackles.

take a look at these pages. the first is on rushforths website. take all the measurements that are on the sheet and you can scan it to him in an email and he will get back to you the next day.
