Rim fit??

Have a set of drag lites I want to use to replace the skinnies I have on the fronts now ?. The rim size is 15", width is 7" and the back spacing is 3.688" Just want to confirm this will fit in my fenders without issues..

The back spacing seems a little short..

Thoughts??

Thanks in advance

Re: Rim fit??

If you already have them, seems like it wouldn't be hard to just jack it up under the control arm and stick a rim on it to eyeball it. My gut says the backspace would cut it too close. That's more like a Corvette backspace.

Re: Rim fit??

Well Steiner .. A friend is giving me the rims with no tires...hate to have tires mounted and find out they rub.. Was hoping someone here was running that back spacing..I have read some run 4" bs...if that's correct... My bs of 3.688 is just a little more than a 1/4 inch difference...

Also looking for close to stock 15" size tires for the front any recommendations...

Re: Rim fit??

That's what I'm saying....couldn't you just stick the rim only on it to see what you've got? Jack under control arm, straight edge on rim face, and check at the fender lip.
215 tire will add about 3/4" per side,
225 tire a little under 1",
235 tire a little over 1".

Let's see....3.688 puts 3.312" "frontspace" I guess you could say.
I run an 8" rim and 235 tire on a '69 with 4.75" backspace, so 3.25" "frontspace".
Looks pretty close to the same to me. Used to run a 7" with 235 tire and 4.25" backspace.

As for stock sizes, the only '68 available with a 15" tire was the Z/28 and it got an E70-15 on a 15x6 rim. Not sure about how it correlates to today's sizes but I think around a 205/65-15 is close in both width and height? 25.5" I think is the height and you can do various ratios to get that. 225/60-15 is close to the height as well.
