Question Safe jacking locations 1969 rear

So the rear bumper is off to be re-chromed and I wanted to finish swaping new rubber on the rear.

Where is the safest location to jack up the rear with a floor jack? I would like to take both rear tires off at the same time but can do one at a time if I need to. I looked at the rocker by the rear wheel well but that won't take the suspension with it and I'm afraid of having that much of an angle that close to the edge of the vehicle.

Place the jack so it is directly under the rear end where the differential is located. Make sure you put safety stands under the axle tubes on both sides.

Anywhere else and you will encounter suspension travel and those areas won't be as safe as jacking up the 3rd member.

Floor jack under the spring perch. Then jack stand under the axle housing and repeat on other side. Again place a jack stand under the housing don't rely on the floor jack.

Pardon my ignorance but is the perch the flat support where the shock is right on the leaf spring? Maybe a photo if someone has one.

Right under where the leaf springs bolt to the axle housing

X2 on this. jack up the diif with a jack and support both sides of the axle with a jack stand. I wouldn't jack one side side at a time because you're twisting the body.

Is there anyone that actually used the bumpers to jack up their firstgen? Nothing ever surprises me anymore.

Pumpkin works OK too. Just be careful with both rear wheels off the ground. You MUST be on a level surface and I would block the front wheels to keep it from rolling.

Spring perch is NOT Safe???

Why do you think that?

Re: Safe jacking locations 1969 rear

Well I thought of using the diff housing before I posted, but my slab is in very bad shape and was afraid the floor jack would just punch through it, so I used the spring perch as Vega$ suggested which is on an uncracked part of the slab, and had no issues.
