Basically the car is only used for street use but I do want a tire thats decent with traction and can be used at the strip once in awhile with good results. Heres the few I was considering but want to hear your advice or other suggestions.

32lbs
Tread width - 12.7"

Sportsman Street Radial

37lbs
Tread width - 11.6"

Re: Which tire?

I only have dealings with MT DR's and McCreary's......both of which offered decent DRY traction...wouldn't get caught on a wet road or it the rain...just the morning dew had me pucker one morning

MT DR's have a tread ware rating of 0

Re: Which tire?

I currently have the N50 Sportsman I on my car (also has a 0 tread wear haha) and they are ok. Haven't had them to the strip but they do spin quite easily with 20psi on the street. Car is pretty stable though.

Re: Which tire?

I ran the MT SSR. They had decent traction but I hated the flame tread pattern. I will say MT dose have there sizes correct. What they measure is what you get.

Do you have any traction control devises to help plant the tire?

Re: Which tire?

I've heard some mixed things about the pros...I however heard a lot of great things about the ET Streets, wish they came wider than 325's though.

Re: Which tire?

I just got a pair of 315/35/17 Nitto NT05Rs... dont have them on yet but heard they were even better than the MT or Hoosier drag radials.

Re: Which tire?

If you want a street tire with some bite, I used these back in the 80's
and they were the best you could buy then and I think now for double purpose tires. IMHO

SUMMIT # COK-72146 Pro-Trac Bias N50-15 RacingProfile # 18050 SKU 72146
- Rims: 8”-12” Tread Width: 11.30” Tread Depth: 12/32 Cross Section: 12.65” Diameter: 27.87”
and they have larger sizes !
I heard that the M/T Sportsman Pro/ET Street Rads were not good in the rain !

Because of the room in my car's stock wheel Fender Wells I run the M/T Sportsman S/R Radial Tires
28'' x 12''R x 15''LT SUMMIT # MTT-6641 on the street and then change them for the following for racing;
A. RIM for Strip = Weld Draglite 90-Series 15” x 8” BC= 5x4 ” BS= 4.5”
Rubber for Strip = M/T ET St Radials # 3753R 275-50R-15
Tread Width: 10" / SideWalls Width: 11.3" - Diameter: 26.1"
B. RIM for Strip = Summit Fast 5, cast-alum1-piece, 15" x 8" BC 5 x 4 ” BS 4.5”
Rubber for Strip = M&H MuscleCar dot DragTireMSS-001 Bias-Ply 275/60/15
Tread Width: 10" / SideWallWidth: 11.7" Dia: 28.2”

Hope this helps !
