Anyone have pics of 235/70R15 tires on a 69?

Anyone have pics of a 69 with 235/70R15 tires? I am thinking about going with that size on 15X7 Rally wheels. Right now I have 235/70R14 BFG's that they don't make anymore. I don't think my car would look right with shorter sidewalls.

Here is my '69 with 235/60R15 tires. My bad, I double checked this morning and they are 60's.

A BFG Radial T/A 235/70 R15 is 28.0" overall diameter, whereas a 235/60 R15 is 26.1" overall diameter. I may have a photo or two of a '69 with the 70-series, will check after work - but that extra (almost) 1" on each of the sidewalls over the 60s will give you a lot more flex.

Re: Anyone have pics of 235/70R15 tires on a 69?

Thanks everyone. My current tire is 27" in diameter I was thinking 28 would still fit and fill out the wheel wells nicely, plus make it ride a bit better through our pothole filled roads. I'll try and post a photo of how it looks with the 235/70r14's this afternoon. I'd still run these but they were made in 1989 and the traction is pretty poor.

Tim, if you find a photo I'd love to see it. I'm amazed with how many of these cars have found their way to Australia.

I had 225/70-15's on 15x7's until last summer. Oddly enough I had also purchased them in 1989 and one developed a huge bulge through the tread belts, so out they went. That's about as tall as you would want to go IMO, especially up front and only if your alignment positions the tires perfectly in the center of the wheel wells. Mine rubbed a bit in turns with bumps. Check the album I have under my profile and look for the picture when my car was still white. I may be able find some others, but I'd suggest 235/60 or 215/65 up front. PM me if you want me to look of other pics.

You can look at my profile pic and see 235\60-15's, but the car is lowered so it'll look different with a factory stance.

Chuck, sorry - the photos I had in mind were indeed of a 69 with 70-series tires, but turned out to be on 14" rims - which is what you already have. There seems to be a fair number of Camaros, Mustangs and tri-5 Chevys being imported here lately - I guess the fact that the Aussie $ is still riding high against the US $ means that people can better afford a classic..... but it's not just here - was in Europe over Christmas/New Year and saw many US muscle cars, especially in France..... I was told that quite a lot of American cars end up in Germany and the UK in particular, brought over by US Servicemen posted to military bases there - and then get sold on throughout Europe.

I like the 215/65/15 or 215/70/15 on front.

Do not go with 70 series tires...your camaro will look like a truck. Here is what my camaro looked like in 1990 with 235/60-15s

Re: Anyone have pics of 235/70R15 tires on a 69?

Here's a car with 215/70x15 tires. These tires have a 26.8 inch diameter which is very close to the original E70/15 diameter of 26.73 inches.

Pete, I think your car looked fine with the 70 series tires. It looks period correct to me.
