Any tips on materials and/or technique touching up the black on Rally Wheel center caps?

Lacquer thinner, tape, and paint?
Or, artist brush and paint?

Re: Rally Center Cap Black Touch-up

I read one post about spraying the cap and the excess off the chrome with thinner - flat black or satin or? I might try that on an old one and see how it works.

You could try it. Either way is labor intense - finger polish off the painrt with thinner or taping up.
Might look into having a vinyl stencil made four times.
Give the sample for the 'artist'/stencilist to make, then once the size/design is finalized, make a min of four of them.
Copy the file to a stick for later use getting away from re-engineering the stencil.

Re: Rally Center Cap Black Touch-up

Are you talking touch up or repaint? A black sharpie can go a long way in touching up chips in center caps, works well on emblems too... Of course it won't pass close inspection but from the standing observers perspective nobody will notice!

Re: Rally Center Cap Black Touch-up

there's some large sections that are missing paint so I'm thinking I need to repaint much of them, maybe 30%. Trying to get it ready for shows so I think painting is the thing to do vs touch up. Maybe masking won't be too bad if I use pin stripe tape?
