Any lower cost wheels that are similar to Torque Thrust II?

I need new tires for my car. The tires on the car have been one it since I bought it 12 years ago. I don't want to drive on tires that old. The car is almost ready to return to the road after 12 years and I want to get new wheels and tires.

I really like the Torque Thrust II wheels but cannot afford almost $400 per wheel. I would like to find something closer to $200 per wheel. I want to run a 275 rear tire and 235 front. I would like 17's but could go for 15's.

I would appreciate and tips on wheels that look similar to the Torque Thrust II's. I have seen the Old School wheels my MB but don't care for the sharp line down the center of each spoke. I like the rounded look of the Torque Thrust II.

Thanks

Matt

You should be able to find a set of TTII for less than $800 delivered.

Summit Racing sells Torq-Thrust II's for $209ea in 15" They offer their Legend wheel that looks like a Torq-Thrust in 15,17,18, and 20" for $170-250 per wheel.

Check eBay and Craigslist too Torq-Thrust are one of the most common wheels and you might be able to find some used if you want a less expensive route.

I bought by TT-D's in 15x7 new from America's Tire Co for $165 each.

Re: Any lower cost wheels that are similar to Torque Thrust II?

Thanks for all the info. I did see the tread on the Discount Tire rebate but cannot find wheels I like on their site. I like the TTII's but would like to get 17x9.5 with 5.5" backspacing. I have seen that several people are running this wheel with 275 on the rear with no rub. That is what I would like to run. But the TTII's in this size are $300-$400 depending on where I look.

I looked at the Summit Legend wheels. They offer a 17x9 with 5" backspacing. That would make the center of the wheel 1/4" further inboard. I don't know if that would be a problem or not.

I have looked on ebay and everything I see is new. Very little used.

Craigslist probably has some deals but I find it very hard to search. They are segmented by city so you have to keep going to different cities to search. The other problem is it is very rare that the seller list all needed info. They leave out the bolt pattern and the backspacing much of the time.

I will keep looking. If anyone has any other advice I would appreciate it.

Call Jack at Fast Lane Speed & Rod. He is an American Racing dealer and has the best prices I've found. His prices include lug nuts, center caps and free shipping.

I've bought 3 sets of Americans from him in the past and his service is excellent. He also is an expert at what fits and what doesn't. Here's a link to his site that has his contact info:

Re: Any lower cost wheels that are similar to Torque Thrust II?

Here is my alternative to the Torque Thrust. Wheels are Cragar Eliminators, Summit racing rears $130.00 each fronts $125.00 ea and $10.00 to ship!!
The rears are 15x8 with 4.5 inch back space. On my 67 I test fit a 275 60 15 on the rear. The tire was a mastercraft and I did not like the size of the sidewall, it looked like a truck tire (too tall) on it. Not sure how a BFG would look, I think I could run a 275 with no issues. Pics are taken with no interior of much of anything on the car with the 275 tire.

Fronts are 15x7 with 235 60 15 front and rear hotchkiss springs 2 inch drop in the front 1 1/2 drop in the rear.

Following 4 pics 275 shots:

Wheel well clearance with the 275

These are BFG 255/60/15 on the rear and 235/6015 on the front.
