15x12 Tire Recommendation

Hi Guys,
Just purchased a set of 15x12 rims for when I go to the track, and was wondering what tire and size you all would recommend? It a 68 Camaro, and will be having the DSE mini tub installed soon. I wanted to have both sets of wheels ready to ensure it fits ok when they fab the rear end and suspension.

These will be the ones I use daily.

Thanks

Re: 15x12 Tire Recommendation

What size are the ones in the pic? Include wheel size and backspacing, also what backspacing are the 15x12's?

The ones in the pic are 18x12 with a 5.50 BS (335/30R18). Ones ordered are 15x12 with a 5.50 BS.

Re: 15x12 Tire Recommendation

Both have the same section with of 13.5"... but the height difference is just about 4".

335/30/18 = 25.9" tall
315/60/15 = 29.7" tall

Not sure what you are after but a 4" height difference is going to be a tough one to pull off!

Re: 15x12 Tire Recommendation

I went with the 315/60 as to fill my wheel wells. My normal tire size for the rear are 31x18.5x15.

Re: 15x12 Tire Recommendation

Thanks for the pics and input. 4ins is a big difference. Maybe I can find a lower profile other than the 60.

Re: 15x12 Tire Recommendation

Do you all think 325/50-15 will fit? Section width 13.1, tread width 11.6,and 28" tall.

The 4 link suspension will be height adjustable.

Re: 15x12 Tire Recommendation

Height adjustable is good if it's as simple and quick to do as swapping the wheels... If you have to go through a 3 hour process before you can bolt the 28's up it will get old fast. 2" taller is a lot better than 4", I think the key will be getting the rear suspension setup for the 28's and the track, then coming up with a solution for the 18" street wheels. Lets hope it doesn't leave your stance and overall look on the street a bit off...

I know the 15's are a done deal but did you give any thought to using 18s" for your track wheels too?

I thought about using 18's but I got a good deal on the 15's so couldn't pass them up. The car will only be to the track a few times a year, and as much as it rains here in the UK might be less. Hosier has a 27in tall tire, but havent looked into them yet. I will speak to the guy doing my tub and suspension and see how hard it will be to adjust. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.
