spare tire question

I've got a 68 Camaro. Its been restored, modified and upgraded over the years. Now my Dad insists that I get a spare tire for the trunk. The car came stock with 4 wheel drum brakes. We have since put power disks put up front and because of the disk size had to go up to 15'' rims.

Here are the tire sizes I've got on there now:

Front - P205/60R15 90S M+S

Rear -
P235/60R15 98S M+S

In short, I've got 15'' rims all the way around with the rear tires being a bit more meaty than the front.

My question is, what rim size should I get for the spare? Should I go narrow (15''x6'') for a better fit into the trunk? Will a 15''x6'' rim work with the disks up front and also with the drums in the rear?

If 15''x6'' is the way to go, what is a good universal tire size?

thanks for your time and help

Wink Re: spare tire question

I have a 'vert and the trunk space is very limited.
I found a 'compact' emergency spare at a wrecking yard that measured @25" and had a 4 3/4" (120.7mm) pattern and threw it in there for trips ...

Your tire diameters are 24.7" front and @26" rear, so look for something closer to the 24.8 ~ 25" size to allow emergency use on both ends.

Re: spare tire question

Like John said, trunk space is a premium with a vert so I don't carry a spare at all. I carry a can of Slime fix-a-flat and my AAA card. My long drives are ~300 miles round trip. If I was going longer I'd probably look for a space saver spare for added peace of mind - my wife's mind that is..

Re: spare tire question

u can get away with mis matched diameters up front, but at the rear keep thesame diameter..otherwise can damage diff espec if posi.
