Will there be tire rub (15x7 Rally Wheel)?

YW Rims - 15X7 with 215/65/R15 tires

I am looking at getting 15x6 rims if I have to but I am hoping my 15x7 rally rims will work with smaller tires to avoid tire rubbing on the fenders. Will this combo work? I dont have any suspension drops (just the normal set up) but with disc brakes (hence 15 inch rims)

Thanks

YW steel rally wheels are 14x6 with something like 4 3/8" backspacing.

Re: Will there be tire rub (15x7 Rally Wheel)?

Must mean FW or YH, eh ??

Either way, no clearance issues with those tires....

btw, there are 14" rallys suitable with disc brakes.

  • '68 RS, AA, 749, L30, M(uncie)20 (originally a 3spd), 15yr backburner resto........

Don't know if it helps but here's a twenty year old pic of a '69 with 15"x7" FW's and 235/60R15 tires on a four wheel drum car.

Re: Will there be tire rub (15x7 Rally Wheel)?

I have FW 15x7 rally's on my car with 235/60-15's and the only time I have any rubbing is with the steering wheel turned to the limits. But some of that may have to do with the IROC gear box I have as well. But normal driving is fine.

Picture for reference.

Re: Will there be tire rub (15x7 Rally Wheel)?

FW's are essentially the same as the 15x7 YH wheels that came on the '69 Z/28. You should have no problem fitting 235/60 15 tires and the 215/65 15 is just under an inch narrower and almost the same height!

Re: Will there be tire rub (15x7 Rally Wheel)?

I rocked 235/60-15's on my car for year back in the late 80's in high school. Never rubbed at all from what I remember. If your car is not lowered are the springs shot and maybe its sitting too low???

At the risk of highjacking this thread...
what backspacing are you running on the 15 x 7" rally's??

from Dennis comment 4.25" should be OK?
