Mccreary tires

Anyone ever run Mccreary tires from American Racer? I see a size I like but no info on them. Street and strip use?

Question Re: Mccreary tires

I run McCreary on several Farm and Off/Road applications, and they work just fine - but non on cars or trucks that are street driven ...
Didn't even know they made Radial type tires we'd use on Camaro's

Re: Mccreary tires

John,
Last time I ran McCreary tires was back in the early 70's. I believe they were the checkered flag Road Star tires..raised white letters on my first 1966 Chevelle SS .

Re: Mccreary tires

They do have a DOT tire available now. What caught my attention was the size.

Re: Mccreary tires

Years ago I ran some of their DOT approved 275/50/15 tires. They were a full tread really soft compound tire.

I did not have good luck with them but to be fair, my suspension was not the best back then. My best on those tires was 11.83 at 116 with a 1.74 sixty foot. That was done by leaving at part throttle and going wide open in about 2 car lengths.

Re: Mccreary tires

They were OK for the power level I was at (bottom 12's)
I was running the 285/60/15 SH's....but they rubbed on corners and off camber bumps

Glad to hear you've had good experiences with their tires also Steve
I'll have to time the 1951 Farmall "H" and check my 60 foot times - I think they are about the same - @ 1 minute and 74 seconds at 'half' throttle
But traction is seldom a problem - unless it's really muddy ...

Re: Mccreary tires

I used to use their dirt track stock car tires as a cheap street/drag race tire. They actually worked well.
