need help on 67 wheel/tire combo

Building a 67 conv camaro for a customer. Running stock front springs with small block and multi springs in rear with 12 bolt rear. Owner wants to put 17" American racing TT's on car. want to put the largest rear on car he can fit. Any help would be great for wheel and tire combo for front and rear.

thanks

Re: need help on 67 wheel/tire combo

I just went through this very thing. Lots of info out there but I still wasn't sure. Ended up going with Coy's wheels, 17x8 245/50ZR17 rear, 17x7 225/50ZR17 front, 4 1/2" back spacing. I wanted a wider sidewall as I don't like the rubber band look of thin tires, hence the 50 rather than 40 or 45's. I also have 2" lowering springs on the front and 1" blocks on the rear. For my suspension the fronts are pushing it. I'd get the tire rubbing the fender bolts over small bumps. Thanks to the members here I found a solution: replace the regular bolts with button head bolts. That took care of about 90% of the rub. Long story but I think with stock suspension what I have works without issue. No rub on turns either. You may be able to go with 255 on rear... My sig has a photobucket link with pics if you want to see.

1967 350, Hurst TKO 600 5 speed, 12 bolt 3:55 posi, RS added

The car looks great, but I'd prefer the front tire be a little more tucked in on mine. You say it rubs a bit...would you recommend a narrower tire to cure the rub...17x7 with more backspacing to satisfy my "tucked-in" thing?
