1969 Spare tire and wheel

ok...I'm trying to set up a spare that will work with my 69...

Back tires are 255/60/r15 BFG radial Ta..not sure of rim width...POSI rear

Front tires...155/80/r15 BFG radial Ta's...15x5 rim

If I get a flat I need to keep the diameter the same for the rear so as not to ruin the Posi gears. Rear tires are 27.1 diameter from BFG specs

I want a tire to fit the front as well if used as a spare so a large 255/60/r15 will be silly and take up a lot of trunk space.

I searched tire specs and the 215/70/r15 BFG is 26.9 diameter which comes out to 5 revolutions difference per mile. (i'm not rainman, just researched)...

My question....a 15x7 rally rim with WHAT backspacing will work? Disc brakes all around on car. Am I missing anything else here?

Re: 1969 Spare tire and wheel

Any 15x7, 15X8 or 14X7 Corvette Rally will work for Disk Brake. I never heard
of a car being ruined with a different tire for a small amount of time....
You are over-thinking this one....

Re: 1969 Spare tire and wheel

Here's how to measure backspace....https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html#backspace

A common FW coded (stamped by the valve stem hole), 15 x7 Rally has 4.25" backspace and will work fine for your spare.

You're wise trying to match the rear tire OD, especially with a POSI, never know how long you may need to drive it until the other tire is repaired/replaced.
