lot's of questions about 19's & 20's
I have one side of my 69 almost mini tubbed, just gotta do some final grinding and weld it in. I made a mock tire from cardboard and I made it the dimensions of 335mm wide and overall diameter of 27.75 inches. This should be the dimensions of a 335/30r20. I think it may be too big. I have the lips trimmed and I have cut into the frame rail about as much as I think you can and I still don't undersand how other people have made these tires fit. I have seen a few pics of cars that have the rear lowered to the point that the top of the rim lip is even with the fender lip using this tire size. And the owners say that is the ride height. And they also claim it doesn't rub. I don't understand what I'm missing here. By the time this mock tire contacts the notched portion of the frame rail, the outside will still hit the trimmed fender lip. Anyone using 20's on a tubbed car? Or have any comments?
