Backspacing for 15x7 15x8 wheels from 66 El Camino ok for 1st gen?

Found a decent deal on a set of 15x7 front 15x8 rear AR TTD's. They're currently on a 66 El Camino if that tells you anything.

I don't want to drive the hour unless they're going to fit. Since they're on the car currently he doesn't have an accurate way to measure the backspacing.

What's the ideal backspacing for 15x7 and 15x8 wheels on a first gen. I've read a ton of threads here about it and it's all Greek to me.

Thanks,
Jason

AR website lists offset of -6 for 15x7 and 0 for 15x8 for those wheels.
That would translate to a backspacing of 3.75" and 4.5", according to the chart.

I believe the ideal backspacing for 15x7 is 4.25", and for 15x8 it is 4.5".

I think you should be good.

I believe it was Dennis who posted this chart the other day with the optimal backspacing for different size wheels. It revolved around having a positive offset of 6mm, which is a 4.25" backspacing for a 15x7 wheel, and a 4.75" backspacing for a 15x8. See chart below.

If the 15x7 is in fact a 3.75 backspace, you wont want to go larger than a 215 60 15 tire for the front or a 205 70 15, because in my experience it may rub
