69 COPO looking for cheater slicks

Let's see if I can get some help over here:
I would like to add a set of cheater slicks to my Copo with the dog dish hubcaps, for the day 2 look and I will be running it at the track as well. wheel vintiques has either 15x7 or 15x8 with a 4.25 inch back spacing, I am looking at the m&h cheater slicks that are 26x10.5/15. Does anybody know if they will fit without cutting? Will the 15x8 work or do I need the 15x7?? I think the exhaust will be more of an issue than anything else.

Re: 69 COPO looking for cheater slicks

An 8" wheel fits fine if you have the correct back-spacing,..4.75~ inch or so.

For tires, you can run 275/60-15 on a 8" wheel and clear everything. It's typically about 28" tall and 9.5 to 10" tread width with 11" section width depending on the manufacturer. Anything bigger had trouble clearing the fender lips on my 69's.

These Mickey's are tough to beat:

...and you can drive them to the track.

Not sure I understand,..you want a steel wheel and you want to run your poverty caps?

Poverty caps were OEM for COPO but they might have only been 14 inch wheels.

For the Mickey's, can you give me your exact backspace?

Re: 69 COPO looking for cheater slicks

Here's a link that shows the exact dimensions of the rear wheels I run when I'm taking one of the 69's to the strip:

Again,..I remove my rear rally wheels in my garage, bolt up my Mickeys and go racing. I don't have do any wheel swaps at the track and deal with the extra two wheels at the track.

And grip? You bet! As good as the softer Hoosier radials of the same size that I wore out.

Good luck!
