Wheels required for WA registration

Hi All,

I finally found and purchased my dream Camaro.
Now while I wait the painful shipping time, I'm hoping someone can help my find some wheels/tyres to use for licensing the car, as I'm guessing she won't pass with the current 20's/18's that are fitted.
I'd be happy to pay to rent some rallye's off someone for the day.

Look forward to any feedback. Cheers.

Nice looking car and welcome to the club. The wheels look pretty good to me. I hope you find some that will allow you to pass. Good luck!

If I may ask, what about the current wheels/tires won't pass a state inspection?

I realize WA means Western Australia not Washington in the States, just wondering why modern cars come with large dia wheels without issue and you would have a problem with a classic.

where do you live ? why wouldnt those wheels and tires pass an inspection ? unless they are worn out which it does not look that way ? almost all pro touring or similar cars have wheels like that ?

Re: Wheels required for WA registration

Hi All,
Yeah sorry I was referring to Western Australia.
The laws are much more strict in our country for getting a car back on the road or on the road for the first time. I spoke to an inspector before purchasing a car so I had an idea of how standard a car needed to be. One of the items he mentioned was wheels, stating that many people try to put cars through with bigger wheels on the bigger and/or small wheels on the front which the car wasn't originally designed for.
So to the avoid the hassle of going through and paying for the inspection twice, I figured I'd put some stock wheels on for the day ;-)

Cheers, Tom.

Check your brake rotor sizes and caliper locations - this may be more of a swap than you're planning on.

Re: Wheels required for WA registration

Is it the staggered wheel heights, the different widths, or both? As Mike pointed out if you have plus sized brakes, stock wheels won't fit.

Other than that a chevy is a chevy as far as bolt pattern goes, there has to be someone local to you with some skinny 15" wheels and tires on their classic that would swap you for a few hours.

Re: Wheels required for WA registration

Thanks for the interest guys. Fortunately I found a nice chev owner on a more local forum. He's willing to lend me his chevelle stock wheels for the day.

Regards.
