Just installed new wheels

Just installed my new wheels finally! They are BG Rod Works Gasser, 17 x 8 front and 17 x 9.5 rears with 235/45/17 BFG sport comp 2 fronts, and 275/40/17 BFG drag radials rear. They were a steal of a deal... $670cdn total including shipping, taxes, and tariffs (I live in Canada). Suspension is stock (hence the 4 x 4 look), but not for long!

Re: Just installed new wheels

Where did you get them? What is the back spacing for the wheels?

Seems like a very good deal. Cheaper than anything I have seen.

Re: Just installed new wheels

The backspacing is 4.75 on the fronts, and 5.5 in the rear. They don't have any rubbing issues, but there isn't much room between the rear tires and the inner fender well. Once it's lowered, it will be close. I plan on lowering it 3" in the rear, and 2" in the front... Although haven't fully decided on those amounts yet. I think I may just pony up and go with coilovers front and rear so I can dial in the ride height.

The wheels came from Performance plus tire. They were excellent to deal with... Great customer service, good prices, and very fast shipping! I had the wheels with in a week of ordering them.

Tires came from Discount Tire, who were also awesome to deal with!

Re: Just installed new wheels

Here's a photoshop mockup with the rear lowered 3 inches and the front lowered 2 inches. I based the measurements on your 17-inch rim size, so I think the scale is pretty good.

Re: Just installed new wheels

Wow, looks great. Been admiring those on Discount Tire so it's nice to see a set installed. For reference, here's the same size setup with Global West L16 leafs (advertised 1.5" drop) and Eibach 1" drop springs in SPC lower control arms that have 1" drop built in BUT the poly spring cushions are installed so it's maybe 1.5" drop total. Been thinking about pulling them out. The fenders measure almost identical but for some reason it looks slightly nose high at certain angles.

Re: Just installed new wheels

Wow, thanks for that photoshop! That's exactly the stance I'm looking for!

Steiner, I had actually originally ordered your exact wheels (Except in the gunmetal), but they were so back ordered that they still wouldn't have shipped. I ended up giving up, and going with the Rod Works wheels.

Now for the suspension and brake mods! It's going to be a busy winter! The car will be basically stripped down to the shell. I'll be starting a build thread shortly!

What size tires are you running? The garage shot looks like a huge wheel tire? What wheels are those? Any mods to the fender well to fit that package? Thanks.

Re: Just installed new wheels

I pretty much have same set up only mine are 18" wheels. It is lowered 3" in rear and 2" in front. I had to roll the rear fenders.

Your ride and wheels look fantastic. Love it!!!
