275/60/15 and convo pros

So wanting to buy a set of convo pros 15x8.5 and the only backspacing options are 5 and 3 3/8. I think that a 5 with a 1/2 inch spacer will work but I am not 100% sure. Anyone running a 275/60 on a set of convo pros, with caltracs and staggered outboard stock location?

I searched the will it fit threads and did not see this exact setup. Currently running a 275/60 with a 15x8 with 3 3/8 backspace but would like to tuck the tire in a little more if possible.

Thanks

A 275/60/15 tire and stock wheel wells fits perfect on a 15 x 8 wheel with 4.5" backspacing.
I don't like spacers personally.
Now, if you are ok with the spacer, it should work.

the centerline 8.5 with 5 inches of backspacing is just about right without a spacer. It is what is on the back of mine. I believe the spacer will set the wheel out too far, and you will definitely rub the lip.

I had a pair of Hoosier Quick Times in size 275 60 15. I never drove with them on because they were sooooo close, I knew they would rub on a hard turn or bump. My car is a 69 Z/28 with the stock springs, so it is slightly lower than the other 69's. May not be an issue with you, but I wasn't willing to take a chance. I ended up running 255 60 15. No rubbing issue at all.

If you roll the fender lip, you will probably be fine.

Re: 275/60/15 and convo pros

I have Autodrags on my '69 with 275 60 15 BFG Drag Radials. They are 15x8.5" with 4 7/8 backspacing. I have de-arched Eaton 4 leaf Z28 springs in the back and the top of the tire tucks by about 2" or so.

And that is the absolute biggest tire that will fit IME. Depending on your quarter panels, you may or may not be able to move the tire out without rolling or trimming the lip. The 5" would rub for sure on my car, and when I turn sharp the tires rub the inner-wheel wells.

Re: 275/60/15 and convo pros

Thanks for the input guys. I got the ones with 5 inches of BS and they are real close. I think I have got about an 1/8 inch of clearance on the inner fender. How much clearance is needed so the tires don't rub? 1/4 or more?
