Will they Fit?

I have a chance to buy 4 new Bridgestone tires and wanted to know if they will fit on my 69 with stock suspension. 17 x 8 wheels, not yet ordered, need to determine BS. 265-40-17 & 235 x 50 x 17. Guy went with 16 inch wheels?!

Re: Will they Fit?

The fronts will be about an inch taller than the rears (half inch extra sidewall above and below the wheel).

And backspacing would have to be spot on for the front not to rub somewhere. I wouldn't do it just based on the look alone.

Re: Will they Fit?

For a 69 Camaro the front wheel size is 17x7 4.75 BS tire size 235/45/17. The rear wheel size is 17x8 5.25 BS Tire size 255/40/17. I have seen pics of rear wheels 17x9.5 5.5 BS Tire size 275/40/17 and the owner admitted the rear rubbed.

I think you're off by an inch on both the front and rear wheel width.

17x8 w/4.75"bs, and 17x9 w/5.25"bs works well.

The tire sizes you listed would be considered safe on most. Some of us have gotten away with 275's in the rear and 245's up front.
