Morgan,
Unless you've done something to the rear wheelhouse (ie. minitub), my guess is you would experience rubbing on the inner side. I don't recall the BS on the YH wheels (4.25- 4.5?) but still seems it could be an issue.

Re: rally wheel tire combo question

225/50? Those are going to be kinda short and might not look right, less than 24" tall. I think a 255 might be about as big as you wanna go on a 7" wheel. Some run up to a 275 on a stock wheel but it'll stick out on stock backspacing and kinda "bulge" on the wheel. Have to run 5.5" or so to get it to tuck under the fender lip.

Here's 235/60R15 at 26" tall on an FW wheel which should have identical measurements as the YH, 4.25" backspace. No issues with these. BTW this pic is about to turn 21 years old.

Same size 235/60R15 tire but on a Year One 15x7 Rally built with the wrong backspace, only 4". They hit the front fender nuts on hard turns under compression.

Re: rally wheel tire combo question

Hey guys not to hi-jack this thread but I have the same 235 tire combination on my 15x7 FW Rally wheels. Is the back spacing the same on the FW as the YH. Also not to sound stupid. But what is backspacing? Duh!

Re: rally wheel tire combo question

Yeah Mike, pretty sure they're identical.
Backspace is from the back of the wheel mounting face to the very back edge of the wheel.

Re: rally wheel tire combo question

First number is the width in mm.
Second number is sidewall height percentage of width.
235/60 is 235mm wide with a sidewall = 235 x 0.60
So, a 235/50 would be the same width but shorter.

The idea is to use the math to figure out how to get your width where you want it and the overall height where you want it.
235/50R15 height = ((235 x 0.50 x 2) 25.4 ) + 15
Convert tire sidewall top and bottom to inches and add rim diameter.
