O.K., I have been chasing my tail with everyone talking about 15 x 7 this and 15 x 8 that.... I know wheel wells vary by year, but I plan on putting rally's on my 68 and I am in the market for the right size combo without rubbing. Is there anyone who has success with a combo that works, and if so, do you have photo's available?

I've got 15x7 Ralleys on my 69', with new BF Goodrich T/A radials, 235/60/15 front, 255/60/15 rear, it seems to be a pretty good combo in my opinion, I haven't had any rubbing problems. You could probably run a little wider in the back, with a 15x8 rim, maybe 275/60/15, I've even seen posts where 295/60/15's have been used, but I'm guessing there are some serious air shocks involved in that proposal. There's also been some recent discussion about front tires, and while I still sware that 235's are about as wide as you can go, another member is running 265's on his front. Try a search on the subject, I'm sure you can find the thread. I've got new KYB's all around, and new big block springs up front. hey dino, I have a 67 R/S and went through this mess a while ago , check out my page here it may help with your decision, my car stock hat 14*6 in the front and 14*7 in the rear, stock rallys, I didnt like the look, so I swapped to 15's but chose my tires because of the size and correct speedo gearing. and they fit well and dont rub AT ALL, friends on here and personal friends of mine have used 235's in the front only to complain that sometimes when they turn , they rub... After the fact, I could have gone a little larger in the rear because the camaro has a great wheel well, but these tires worked fine for my application http://www.geocities.com/macphreak4evr/rims.htm
If you don't want it to rub or use air shocks I would use either 15x6 or 15x7 rallies in the front with 215/65/15. In the rear use a 15x7 with a 235 or 245/60/15. 15x8's stick out a little too much for my taste and are even with the lip on the outer wheel well so it makes it hard to have the tire below the lip of the wheel well, which I like. However, since it is your car you should install whatever tire and wheel size that achieves the look you are after. Good luck.
I just put 15 x 7s with 235s on the back of my '69 convertible, and personally I think they look small. They don't rub, but hey... just a bit wimpy. I'm thinking of moving them up front and putting 15 x 8s in the back with 50s but I don't know what size. Any suggestions/success stories out there?
You can run 15x8 all around but the biggest factor to all of this is the offset and backspacing. This is why you can have one guy run 245 in the front without rubbing and another guy run 235 in front and have rubbing. I saw a cool article in CHEVY HIGH PERFORMANCE a while ago about fitting tires and rims with a certain amaout of backspacing. The article placed a piece of metal attached to the hub with a certain amount of backspacing invovled. when you spin the wheel it shows you if you got enough room or not. You can play around with different backspacing,rim,tiresize combos before you go and spend money. Ill try to find the article I know it was within the last year. Maybe someone else has seen it.
