Hey all.

I already have 235/60-15 tires for the front of my 1967 Camaro and 245/60-15 tires for the back. I want to run Centerline Telstars all the way around, and I was going to try 15x8x4.5 on all corners. This will be with the Hotchkis springs (2"drop) up front and a 4 leaf (1"drop) in the rear.
I am pretty sure the rears will give me no problems, but will a 15x8x4.5 work up front? Or do I need a 15x7x4.25, etc?

I did a search but came up empty handed for a 67 model.

Thanks

Gary

The rears will be perfect. You may have some problems with the front though. I will let someone with that config. up front chime in.

what rim size/backspace do you think I will need to run the 235/60's up front? (with the Hotchkis 2" drop)

The 8" rim will be very tight on the front. Some people here are using 8" rims on front with no problems but most are using shorter sidewall tires (40/45/50 series). You will likely have rubbing problems with a lowered car if using a 60 series tire on an 8" rim. I had 15X7 with 50 series tires on my 2" lowered '68 and they almost rubbed the fender lip at any steering angle.

What was your backspacing?

My fronts are 235/60/15 on 15X7's 4.5" B.S. They fit perfect.

Beautiful car you got there. I am doing the red/black theme myself, but using the bumblebee stripe.

Is your car lowered in any way? If so, I think we have a winner!

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks and yes, it is lowered but I can't tell you how much from stock. I cut coils to get to the height I needed. Rear height is stock on new mono leafs.

Gary, the backspacing on the 15X7 rim was about 3.75" but I was running a 215 width tire. My current setup is 17X7 with 235/45/17 and 4.5" back which works well.

I did a tire size comparison for you:

235/60/15 = 26.1" diameter
235/50/15 = 24.4" diameter
235/45/15 = 23.3" diameter

My 235/45/17 is 25.3" diameter and is very close to the fender lip in height, though it is backspced far enough that it does not rub. I think the 60 series tire will be slightly too tall for your wheel well on the 8"
rim, even with the right backspacing. Try measuring the wheel well lip height from wheel center to see which of the above sizes will work.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to wait to do the measuring because the frame is off now.
