I have a 68 Camaro SS. The suspension is the stock height. I am going to put TorqThrust ll
wheels on it. I would like to go with 16's, but don't know what back spacing or tire size. I don't want to have a fit problem. Also maybe I should just stay with 15's. Any ideas, and thanks?

Backpacing will depend on which rim width you are planning to go with. For a 7" wide rim on the front I would go with 4.5 inch back. For an 8" rim you should likely get 4.75 or 5 inch back. Tires for the front would be best around 215, 225 or 235/50/16. I use 235/45/17 on my '68 with a 7 inch rim, 4.5 back.

On the rear you can fit up to a 9.5 inch rim. I would go with either an 8 inch at 4.75 back or 9 inch with 5 back. Tires will fit up to 275/50/16 on the rear, but sometimes there can be a slight rub with maximum size. I use a 255/45/17 on my '68 with an 8" rim, 4.75 back.

It is wise to measure your wheel openings (spindle nut to fender lip) and depth (wheel mounting surface to frame/ inner wheelwell) before you plunk down any cash for wheels. This way you can tell by using a tire size calculator (search online) if the wheels height and width will fit properly with correct backspacing.

Good luck!
