Question

I noticed a Camaro in one of the Chevy magazines that according to the article was running 18 x 8.5 inch rim and 245/40/18 tires in the front...is this possible with stock upper/lower control arms and BAer Disc Brakes?? The widest rim I've seen with stock control arms is 18 x 8's thus far.

Also, whats the widest rim & tire that can be run with either DSE or Global West upper/lower control arms??

Control arms do nothing with adding tire/wheel clearance. The wheels isn't even close to the control arms. Steering arms, innder fender and frame and the limiting factors.

And 18x8.5 should fit just fine with that size tire. I'd go with 5.25" backspacing.

Mark, I think your running 17 x 8 in the front with 5.25 bs AND DISC Brakes...so with an 18x8.5 wheel shouldn't I run 5.50 BS??

Can you go even wider in the front or is the 18 x 8.5 max??

Any drawbacks to an 18 x 8.5 inch wheel?? Would you recommend going with an 18 x 8 instead?

BTW, where did you order your Intro Pentias again...my buddy wants to order a set. How much did they run you ballpark?

Thanks, Chris

I think the 8.5 will fit because you're still only running a 245/40 tire. So my 255/40 tire is wider then the rim, so that's the limiting factor.

If you could get an 18x8, I'd probably just do that. The reason I wouldn't go with anymore bs, is becuase my tire rubs the frame slightly at full lock now, so anymore bs would be worse.

I bought my wheels from www.dealersportruck.com , for the 17's, I think they were around $1,500. But they may have come down since then.
