Any preferences / experience on the BFG drag T/As or Nittos? They will be going on a 69 with a 427. Going to try and put the 275-60-15 size on 8.5 wheel with 4.3/4 backspacing.

I've used both. The Nitto's seem to be a better street tire and hook similar to the DR's. The DR's seem to hook better on the track, but don't have much tread depth for a street tire.

We put 275/60-15 DR's on a friends 69 on a 15X8" (5" b.s.) wheel and it barely fit. That 1/4" less b.s. and 1/2" wider wheel may cause problems unless the rear sits up higher than his did, or you're willing to cut the fender lip, maybe both.

I have tried a set of 275 T/A's and had to use a spacer about 1/8" so the tires would not hit the inside. I dont think the outer lip will be a problem, it does sit a little high in the rear. Just not alot of sizes to chose from in drag radials. The nittos will probably be the way to go since it wont see much strip time.

Nitto's. I like them becuase you can get a tire for the front that has a very similar tread pattern. I hear they last longer to.

I had a set of Cooper Cobras on my 93 Z They hooked up good but I didn't even get 20,000 miles out of them. I put a set Nitto Extreme Performance tires on a couple of months ago and I can tell you that I really like them. They hook up great and they are supposed to be a 40,000 mile tire. They should last me about 4 years. I hope. Good Luck with whatever choice you make.

If you want max performance go with the BFG's. If you want good performance with decent street manners go with the nittos.
