Does any one know what is the widest tire I can put on my '68 Camaro without having to use air shocks to keep from rubbing? I have 15X8 Corvette
Rims for the rear and a person told me the 255/50 R15s are the widest to go with. This car has all stock suspension,Has anyone tried 265s
or 295s

Have 265\50R15 BFG's on a 15x8 factory corvette ralley on the front, rears are 295\50R15 BFG's on 15x10 (6" backspacing) wheel vintiques ralleys on my 69. ...but had to relocate the shocks inboard to make it work. At one time had the 265\50R15 BFG's on a 15x8 combo on the rear - better check it out first with a test tire&wheel - my camaro may sit higher or lower than yours and as stated in other posts - may want to load it up with 3 other people, a cooler full of food and a chilli dawg for good measure! Rat Touring 1969 Camaro X44 496 Richmond Super T10 Plus 4-Speed 3.55 4 wheel disc
..and sporting all new suspension, wheels, etc etc... take a look...

I have had 275/60's on mine without problems, but they are close. It really depends on how worn you suspension is and the backspacing on your wheels. I have 4.5"bs on 15x8" Prostars.
