I searched all over the tire and wheel section to try and find an answer to my question but came up with nothing.

My question is:

I thought that the classic combo for camaros was a 215/65/15 up front and 235/60/15 out back...Is this true?

I currently have 4 235/60/15 on my wifes 68 on corvette rally wheels with no rubbing issues. I just think they look a little too baloon like on the front (see pic in sig). Additionally I want to change the wheels to something more flashy. (keeping the rallys of course).

What is the width of the corvette rallys I have (how can I tell)?

Should I go with 15x6 up front for the 215/65/15 and 15x7 for the 235/60/15 I'm going to keep on the back?

Sorry if this has been asked to death.

Please help. Thanks.

The other day I saw a '69 with P255 60R15 on the rear, and P215 65R15 on the front, with 15x7 Rallys, and I thought it looked great ( so much so I wrote the numbers down!).

Cheers-

Corvette rallys are 15x6 with a "DC" or "DG" code (1967), are 15x7 with an "AG" code (1968), and are 15x8 with an "AZ" code ('69-'82); the 15x6's have +.060" offset, the 15x7's are -.28", and the 15x8's have -.50" offset.

I have a '68 with 255/60/15's in the rear and 205/65/15 up front. The rear tire's look great but I have issues with rubbing. I also have mono-leafs that I plan on replacing soon and hopefully that will cure the problem. I'd hate to have to downsize. The front tire's I would like to get the sidewall's a little shorter, I think they look a little goofy being so tall. Any advice and/or comments would be appreciated.

I ran 215/65/15 on 15x7's front, 255/60/15 on 15x8's rear for a lot of years (before going to 17s)- great combo and in my opinion the optimum setup for a 15" 67-68. (not sure on 69 in the rear?).

Six speed,
That is the set up I have on my 68 chevelle.

I was worried that the 255's would rub on the camaro. Single leaf suspension if that matters.

Rus,
I am running TA currently on my rallys (235/60/15). If I do switch when I change wheels I will probably use TA's but go to a little smaller tire on the front.

When I started the thread I just wanted to verify what I had seen on other camaros. 215/65/15 on the front and a larger tire on the back.

I dont know if you've already decided, but i think you should go with 215/60r15 in the front and either 235 or 245/60r15 in the back. There wont be rubbing issues with 245s. I have 245 in the back of my 69 and no matter how hard i turn it doesn't rub. I also haven't changed the leaf springs.

Young 69...Funny you should post. I had just decided to go with 215/60/15 on the front and keep the 235/60/15 that are currently on the back.
I will put them both on 15x7 wheels.

Now I just need to get my wife to decide on wheels.

Nice choice, what tires did you go with? Its tough finding a large selection in that size. What wheels are you deciding from. I have the classic cragar SS's on mine right now.

I finally looked up ALL the T/A radial specs at the BFG website. The above combo only has the rear tire 1/10" bigger in Dia. What do you misc readers think about front and rear tires being CLOSE to the same diameter, with the rears being WIDER,
as opposed to the rears being 1 1/2" or more TALLER and giving the car a (non stock looking) forward rake.....

Rus, I think it all depends on what you want. 255's are nice and wide but you really have to do your homework on the fit. This whole choice is about your personal preference. I would venture to say there really isn't a formula. Good Luck!
