Hello all,

Since searching the archives has given me more confusion than answers, I have to ask, what backspace works good with a 17x8 wheel?
some say 4.5, others say 5.0, while others say somewhere in between. I have the one piece stock rotors and hotchkis spings and plan on running either a 235 or 245 x 45 tire

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the reply. The wheels I want I can only get in 4.5" or 5.0" backspace, which would be better?

I know that several guys on here have used 5" of backspacing on their 17x8's, so I'd guess that would be the better option.

I have 17x8 wheels all the way around with 5" of backspacing. 235/45/17 for the front and 255/45/17 for the rear. I'm also running Hotchkis springs and Baer brakes. I think the stance and the wheel size is perfect.

If those are your only options go with the 5.0 inch backspacing. You can always add a shim if it is too much, but it should be fine. If you go with the 4.5 inch and its not enough well your pretty much stuck.
