15x8 Rally wheels

So I have read through a ton of threads regarding wheel and tire fitment and I have decided to go with 15x8 rally's with 4.5" backspacing. For tires I was thinking 235 60r15 on the front and 255 60r 15 on the rear. Does anyone see any issues with this combo and will the tires fit tucked up inside the fenders? My car as the Hotchiks TVS 1.5" front and 2'rear. Thanks in advance.

Thanks John. That combo looked great on your 69Z28 clone. I knew you were running the tires, but I wasn't sure what BS you were using. Do you think you could have fit a 275 tire in the rear?

Re: 15x8 Rally wheels

I will add that someone here, posted to me that he was using 275 tires and no tubs, He did admit that there was some rubbing in the rear on bumps etc.

I took his input and went for 255 on a 17" rim. There is only finger clearance on insides and fender lips. I called it good.

I have 245/60 in front and 255/60 in back on those wheels. I also have one inch lower coil springs in front that dropped her down perfect. Stock 4 leaf springs in back.. Stance is perfect. I have posted pics of them on here, you might be able to find them. 235/60 in front will be no problem at all

I did run 245 x 60 x 15 on rallys, front and rear. Now with a change in wheels , front is 245x50x16" with 255 x 50 x 17 rear with a 3.50 bs. I had rear end narrowed to bring center of wheel in some. I still have my 15x7 rally for stock shows.
I could have gone wider rears, but didn't want mini tubs. I hate to cut stock bodies unless I am going pro street.
Been there , done that with a 66 nova.

Re: 15x8 Rally wheels

Thanks for the feedback. If I wanted to run 275s on the back would I be better off with the 15x8 with a 5" backspacing?

Re: 15x8 Rally wheels

I run 225 x 60 on the front with a 1.5 lower and it rubs when turning and 245 x 60 on the rear with stock springs on 8" Rallys. Had the same issue with my other 69. Personally I think bigger than 245 on the rear looks too big and out of place, JMO and an old school guy talkin.

Re: 15x8 Rally wheels

The back space on my Vette 8" rallys is 4". . . .4.25 should be fine

I think there'd be a very good chance of rubbing if you tried this, at least on a 69. I have 15x8 rear wheel with a 5" backspacing using a 255/60 tire and have about a 1/4" clearance on the inside, no rubbing (yet). What I do like about the 5" BS is that a standard 15x7 trim ring fits perfect and the whole thing doesn't stick out the side of the car so far.
