need bigger tires

I need to buy a set of rear street legal slicks for the rear of my 69 camaro. The 572 blows through the 26x12x18 MT tires that are on it now. My question is how big of a slick can i go with (and what brand) to fit the 18" rims I already have as well as not doing any body mods to the rear inner lip or the inner wheel well.? I have the stock hight rear multi leafs with the stagered shocks.

Re: need bigger tires

I don't know that anybody makes an 18" diameter full slick. They do make drag radials that size. You need a 28" tall tire. With stock wheel wells I ran 28" X 10" slicks. I did have to roll the lip and trim the bump stops.

'69 Camaro - 429 SBC Dart Iron Eagle 9.325" block, Crower crank, Crower 6" billet rods, Ross pistons (10:1), Total Seal rings, AFR 245 heads, T&D steel body shaft rockers, Cloyes Timing set, custom ground 4-7 swap solid roller 274/286 @ .050" with .704" lift, Dart single plane, Holley Dominator EFI on E85, Injector Dynamics ID2000 Injectors, Stef's #1705R oil pan, F2 Procharger, Lemons 2" primary 4" collector, ATI 9" blower converter

Re: need bigger tires

Sorry meant to say DOT approved slicks. I really dont want to go any skinnier than I already have.....wider if possible, as the 26x12x18s I have now arnt cuttin it. Dont want to go from 12" wide down to 10. Anyone know what baran and size is the biggest? 640 ph needs as much traction as my car will fit stock
