Front tires rubbing, what to change, how far to go...

During this winters restoration I ran into some issues we noticed on the front tires rubbing on the fender wells. Not that I ever really noticed it but I guess it happened based on what we found.
I have 215-70-r15 on the front and 225-70-r15 on the back.
Here is what I am looking for advice on?
I was thinkinf of going with a 205-70-r15 on the front that will stop the rubbing on the newly repainted wells. Do you think it would look goofy or noticable if I keep the 225's on the back or should I move the 215's to the back? Or just run the backs with 225 and 205 on the front?
Thanks fellas

Why not just use a small spring spacer? I used a 3/8" aluminum spacer from Global West and it worked great, although it creaked from time to time.

A lower profile tire would also help with the rubbing. Going from a 215/70r15 to a 215/65r15 is almost a 1" difference in height. This site lets you plug in tire sizes so you can see the size difference side by side. https://tiresize.com/calculator/

X2. What wheels size and backspacing are you running?

Your challenge is tire height with the 70 series. Most applications I have seen in 15" wheels are 60 series tires. If you really want to stick with 70 series, the 205s in front and 225s in back will look good. You can always swap the 215s to the rear if you're not happy with the look.

Good luck Bucky. Do you best to check for clearance before you leave the tire shop. You may be able to get them to try other sizes if the 205s don't cure your rub issues.

Mike.
