Reproduction Center Caps

Does anyone know of another company other than Wheel Vintiques that make/sell reproduction 68-69 Derby center caps? I bought a set from Wheel Vintigues a couple of years ago and in less than a year the black paint in between the ribs of center hub started flaking off. They would not stand behind them. Only warranted for 6 months. I only gently hand washed them at home so there was no high pressure involved, like they insinuated. The caps looked and fit great but the flaking sucks. I have some original GM over 45 years old and none of the paint has flaked off them! On the rare occasion I see a NOS set of GM come across Ebay, the bidding goes to the moon! Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Reproduction Center Caps

Too bad about the flacking. Get a black Testors paint stick from Michaels or wherever and repaint after cleaning the old paint off.

Re: Reproduction Center Caps

I bought another set of reproductions this week that is being marketed by Hugger Performance. Paid $209 for them and they came Friday. Believe it or not, the second one I took out of the box and unwrapped had some paint flake off in my hand! Not to mention, the main dishes have a "hazy" look to them as a result of poor final buffing procedure at manufacture. Not a mirror finish as expected. These are going right back where they came from tomorrow and I'm demanding my money back. I'm in the market for 4 NOS GMs if anyone knows someone that has a set. This repop stuff is JUNK!

D&R are very good about taking back their parts. I too had issues with mine. Not a paint issue, but loose fitting. Took back no problem.

Re: Reproduction Center Caps

Check craigslist and local garage sales for used ones. They clean up real well if they are not dented or pitted. Take them apart and buff the dish as they are stainless and they polish up like new. I have a few sets that I am saving that I have picked up for a few bucks each.
