69 Convert Rims/Tires

Been doing a ton of research on some rims and tires for my 69 Convert. There is almost too much info on what size rim, back spacing etc. Can anyone comment if they have a similar set-up on what I am planning on purchasing?

Classic Torq Thrust II 17x8 (Front) & 17x9.5 (Rear) 5x4.75 Package

Front Tire Option: 225/45R17 BFG Sport Comp-2
Rear Tire Option: 275/40R17 BFG Sport Comp-2

Bolt Pattern:5x120.65 (5x4.75)
Offset:+8mm
Backspace:4.81" (Front), 5.50" (Rear)
Hub Bore:83.06mm

Thank you-DM

Re: 69 Convert Rims/Tires

Did the same with Foose Knuckle except 255 on the rear to keep it more "original" and the car was lowered 2". All 4 wheels are 8".

Re: 69 Convert Rims/Tires

I am looking at running Torque Thrust 8.5x15 with 255/60 BFG's on the rear. Any issues with rubbing with that combo?

Re: 69 Convert Rims/Tires

Respect these backspace specs with any diameter of wheel and you should be good.

Front 16 x 7 w/ 4" backspace 225/55 tires
Rear 16 x 8 w/ 4-3/4 backspace 255/50 tires

Re: 69 Convert Rims/Tires

The key on a 1st gen and maybe more so on a '69 because of the flat top wheel opening is a +6 offset. The +6 will center the wheel in the well if the wheel mounting is in the stock factory position. + size disc brake conversions usually move the wheel mounting pad outboard some so keep that in mind when fitting your wheels and tires...
