1968 Camaro Stock Wheels and Tires

Hello Camaro owners:

I'm entering my 1968 Camaro into judging competition. I need to have bias ply tires on the car for originality. I've attached a photo of a 1968 Camaro (from 1968) and would like to know if anyone can tell me what was the brand of tire put on the car from the factory, the size of the tire (E70 x 14?), and finally what was the actual size of the pinstripe (3/8" or 1")? Hopefully, the photo will help. For background, my car was manufactured in May 1968, standard 327 mt, basic model (not a Z28, SS, or RS). I also have stock hubcaps to use with the car. Many thanks for all the help. Tommy 68

Re: 1968 Camaro Stock Wheels and Tires

I have a set of steel wheels and hubcaps that were original to the 68 Camaro I used to own, I put rally's on it. The spare tire was a Firestone e-70-14. Supposedly the spare was original. I'll double check this tomorrow. When I got the car it had a brand new set of Tiger Paws on it...I left them on the rims and had them in my garage for several years now. Like yours, it was a 327 2bbl but a convertible.

Prepare to be the center of attention when you drive a first generation Camaro. You will be gawked at. Grown men & women will coo like children when you drive past. Children will scream like babies. Dogs & cats will get along. Does it get any better?

Re: 1968 Camaro Stock Wheels and Tires

You should have a tire pressure decal in your glove box that gives the stock tire size for your car. This after market tire pressure decal tells the story. This is the same size tire that came on my car.

This is a thread about my spare that I know is original. It is a UniRoyal tire with a 3/8 or 1/2 whitewall. The closest I was able to come was BF Goodrich with 1 whitewall from Coker Tire.

According to CRG, 7.35x14 black wall was standard. 7.35x14 whitewall was optional as was F70x14 red line.
