Small spare tire

Guys - I'm looking for a space saver type of spare for my '68. Anyone know of any good outlets for a donut spare? I have 15" wheels with drum brakes in the back, disc in the front.

Re: Small spare tire

you can buy "donut" size spare tires in 13,14,15", etc rim sizes.

Typically a 4" wide rim but you need to find a rim that has enough back spacing to clear your rotor/drum with the right bolt pattern. The rim may be a hard find but could be made.

like any donut spare the diameter is likely shorter than your current tires (26"??) so using a donut spare that is smaller diameter is not advised on rear ends with limited slip or gear posi. In those cases if a rear tire needs swapping than pull one from the front and put the donut on the front. In any event these tires are only good for short low speed travel as turning and braking is affected with one tire being considerably smaller in diameter and width

FWIW my spare tire is AAA

Re: Small spare tire

You could probably use the spare from an 80s or 90s Camaro. You'd have to verify height (25.6"-26.2"), but the bolt pattern is the same. 5x4.75. I'm sure it would fit over the calipers considering they have to for the cars they came off of.

Re: Small spare tire

Be careful, limited slip equipped came with full size tires avoiding overheating of clutches.
