US Mags Rambler on '69 Camaro

Anyone put these US Mags Ramblers on their '69? If so, what size and backspace did you use and do they fit without rubbing.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/u...6152/overview/

I'm thinking about getting some 18x8 for front and 18x9.5 for rear. Hoping I could fit maybe a 245 on front and 275 on the rear. Mine is lowered by about 2" though.

Anyone have pics they can share with these on their '69? I currently have 17" and hoping the 18" won't look too big.

Re: US Mags Rambler on '69 Camaro

I was looking at these as well. They only come with 4 1/2 inch backspace on a 18x8 chevy wheel. I need 4.75 to not rub the outside of the tire up front. It's too bad; they are a nice looking wheel.

I heard they fit '69 with no issue. What is making you need 4.75 backspace? What size tire are you looking at going with. I still haven't pulled the trigger on any wheel just yet.

4.5 backspacing on an 8 inch wheel is 0 mm offset.

245/40R18

With the 4.5" backspace possible rub. May be able to run a couple degrees neg camber to reduce rubbing.

Another possibility could be to machine 1/4" off the wheel to increase BS. I would not do this without consulting the manufacturer first.

Re: US Mags Rambler on '69 Camaro

I just bought these and was trying to get them to fit my '67 but they won't fit on my Baer Track 4 brakes (posted just after you did). Now I have to return them. I got 245 and 275 tires for the 8" and 9.5" wheels - Firestone Firehawk Performance tires.

Re: US Mags Rambler on '69 Camaro

I too am interested in these wheels for my 69. The "Tires/Wheels" section does not give me enough clarity. I will go with 235's in front and 255's in back, same 18" wheels, 8" front, 9.5" rear. Hesitating, as I'm not sure they will fit. I may just buy one of each wheel and see how they fit while estimating the tire OD and section width as described on the BFG website. I'd hate to buy and mount only to have a problem of non-returnable tires and wheels.
Let us all know what you end up with.

Re: US Mags Rambler on '69 Camaro

My 69 is lowered. I have 24 inches from grade to bottom of fender lip. I run a 235/50x17 Bridgstone Pole position tires on Billet Specialties Ventec wheels. They have 4 1/2 backspace. These tires are a wide 235. The tires rub just a bit at the top of the fender lip on turning. I also am running negative .5 degree camber to reduce rubbing.
Another 1/4 of backspace would clear with these tires.

These are what I went with as well to clear my Baer Track 4 brakes. Works great!

Re: US Mags Rambler on '69 Camaro

I have the exact ones you are looking at and although my car is not running I don't appear to have any rubbing or clearance issues. You can see a couple of pictures in my build thread. I really like the two tone and they were a great price from Summit - arrived in two days.

Here's a pic I have them on my car. They are 18x8 rims. Front tires are 225/r45 and rear tires are 255/r45.
