good wheel for 67 convertible

1967 Camaro Convertible. Looking at 15X7 and 15X8 jegs wheels with 4"offset. Any issues with these wheels? Best size tires to use with them if I decide to purchase. TIA Pete

Re: good wheel for 67 convertible

For the rear, you won't be able to get the tires to tuck inside the fender lip with a 15x8" wheel with 4" backspacing. You'll need 4.5" backspacing. A 245/60/15 fits with no rub, and I'm fairly confident you could get a 255 to work as well.

For the front, a 15x7 wheel with 4.25" backspacing and a 225/60/15 tire fits well. You may get some rub if you bump up to a 235, but your results may vary depending upon your brake set up. My disc brake conversion kit pushed out the hub face .25" -.50" from the stock drum set up.

You can check out pics in my garage, use the search function for more info, and await more input. Here's a recent thread on the rear set up...https://www.camaros.net/forums/17-wh...wheel-rub.html.

Best of luck...

Re: good wheel for 67 convertible

Thank you I am converting to disc on the front. So would you recommend 4.5" backspacing there like the rear? TIA Pete

With a 15" x 7" wheel up front, 4.25" backspace will work. The size and backspace are the same as common GM rally wheels of the era.

Re: good wheel for 67 convertible

Mike thanks for the information and help. I'll be looking to get 15X7 with 4.25" BS and 225/16 tire up front and 15X8 with 4.5" BS with 235/60 tires.

That'll work, but the 235/60/15s may be a bit small for the rear.
