Factory Correct Valve Stems

Hi Camaro owners:

I'm getting my 1968 base model Camaro ready for judging and have encountered a dilemma. I recently purchased 5 original NOS Dill GM valve stems and caps to use with my 14x6 FC May 1968 date-coded steel wheels and original PO1 wheel covers. The NOS Dill GM valve stems are about 1 3/4" in length. Now, it seems the stems are too short to use. Can anyone advise if extensions were common back in 1968 and what would be the correct extension length? Finally, where can NOS original extensions be purchased today? Many thanks for all the help.

I can't say what they did or how they looked in 1968 but extensions were common 10 years later on the Pontiacs I worked on. Everything with a full wheel cover got them.
