Smile What are the largest BFG Radial's that will fit on a 67 Coupe

I like the look of the BFG's and have chosen them for my car when it gets back from the paint shop.

I'm looking for the largest configuration combination that will fit the Front and Rear of my 67 without any modifications.

I'm looking for Wheel sizes to mate with those BFG's as well.

Thanks in advance...

Thanks

IF you have stock rear, 15x8's with 4.5"bs , 275/60/15 is about as big as you can get without rubbing on the wheelwells. I'm not 100% sure for the fronts so I'll stay away from that one.

Re: What are the largest BFG Radial's that will fit on a 67 Coupe

I just put 255/60R/15 on 15x8w/4.5bs on the rear and 235/60/R15 on 15x7 on the front. BF Goodrich Radial T/A. Made a hugh differnce in how the car looked (68). I think the proportion is just right.

Hey Mitch, do you have any pictures of your rear tires. I am also trying to pick new tire sizes.

Thumbs up Re: What are the largest BFG Radial's that will fit on a 67 Coupe

Cool so based on this sites recommendations and the fact that I am looking for 17" rims, I guess the this formula is the best for me since I am stock on the Front/Rear Ends, Springs, Brakes, etc.

The site also noted that BFG's tend to run slightly larger than the others tested.

17-inch: 17x9 with 5-1/2-inch backspacing front and rear. There may be lower-control-arm contact with some steering gears. Use tires with an aspect ratio of 40 or less and section widths of 245 to 255.

Now I have also heard that you can go as much as 275 in the back. What do you think I need for that. Air Shocks, Lift Kit, or would this fit with minumum passengers in the back seat? I don't plan to have more than 400 pounds in the back and I do plan to upgrade from the mono-leaf suspension to the SS suspension with Traction Bars.

Lastly, I'm trying to figure out about going the same size on all four tires since I can rotate them that way but I was wondering the pro's and con's based on what you guys have seen and experienced.

Again, Pictures tell a thousand words in my mind.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks

All 67's had mono-leaf rear springs. There are many threads for replacing the mono-leaf with multi-leaf springs and good trac bar setups. Caltrac is one.

The 285's are tight !
No mods done on rear or sheet metal.
They do rub on a hard turn or off camber like into driveway.

Now, my biggest question.... Are the wells in the 68 larger than in the 67? They are sweet. Do you need flaps on those babies?

No 67 and 68 are same as far as I can see.

The "mullets" were on the car when I bought it and do help some with sticky tires and stones.

Sorry, mullets to me means an old 70s hair style. What are you talking about? You talking about the Mud Flaps?

Thanks

Re: What are the largest BFG Radial's that will fit on a 67 Coupe

These are some 255/50/16 on 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing I think. I ran 245/50/16 on the front with the same wheels. I'm sure you can go with 275's on 17's in the rear. You might be able to squeeze 255's up front but my car handled awesome with these 245's and 255's.
