Mini-tubbed w/15x10's

I need some help from some of you guys who have outfitted your Camaro or know someone with a 68-72 Nova that has been mini-tubbed with 15x10's. Since I can't get much help from the Nova message boards, I figured I would try here....so thanks in advance.

I have some 15x10 Welds with 6.5" backspacking. I am currently rebuilding the rear with a ladder bar suspension. I know I am gaining some inner clearance by removing the leaf springs and going with the coil-over/ladder bar setup but will I need to do a mini-tub. Perhaps widening the wheel wells a bit....but definitely nothing done to the finder. I am also planning to keep the rearend the stock length unless I need to cut it.

1st question.....what backspacking are the guys u know running with a 10" wheel? I have 275/60's mounted now...but what other sizes might be possible? Any assistance u can offer would help.

with 6.5"bs and 10" wheels, yes your going to need to mini tub unless you like them hanging out the fenders.

15x8" with 4.5"bs on a stock rear with 275/60's is max, so if you do a 2-3" mini tub and go with 6.5"bs I think you'll be fine. I think then your max tire size would be about 325.

Protouring.com would be a big help in what your looking to do also.

Thanks for your reply. I had hoped there would have been more input considering all the pro-street camaros out there. Either way, I will plan for the mini-tub and if I have too much backspace....then you guys will be seeing some Weld's posted here for sale soon.

What about using the offset hangers with it?

Re: Mini-tubbed w/15x10's

Instead of the offset spring hangers, I opted for a the Art Morrison ladder bar/coil over kit. Spoke with my guy who will be doing the work and he are still debating whether or not I will have to shorten the rearend. My thought is that for a 275/60/15 tire I may be ok. But if I ever decide to step up to something like a 295/50 or a 325 tire the shortened rearend would be necessary. Right now I am liking the street car look more. I guess we wont know for sure until we begin to do the measuring.
