Post Will 255s fit on the rear of a 69?

Hello All,

I timeless question, I tried doing a search but could not get a straight answer. Sorry for the redundancy. Will BF Goodrich TA 255/60r15s mounted on a 8” Weld rims with 4.5 backspacing fit on the rear of a stock 1969 Camaro with out rubbing etc? The car maintains its stock ride height. (no air shocks or any rear quarter modifications).
Thanks, Joe

You should be fine with that combo on the rear.

I put 255's on my car with no problems then went with 275's and had to raise the shackles cause under hard acceleration or if people were in the back it would scrub.

I have the exact same setup on mine, ie. BFG TA Radial, 255/60, 4.5 backspacing and welds. My car sits low in the rear and I have no rubbing issues.

I used to have a 1968 SS that had 8.5" Rallye wheels with 4.5" backspacing and I ran 275-60's on the car with no problems. I don't know if there's that much of a difference from the '68 to '69 but I think you'd be fine with the set up your are suggesting.

I have 255/50-16's on the rear with 4.5" BS and absolutely no clearance issues. I would expect the 15's to work fine.
