Trim ring fit

I've seen several posts about the original trim rings, but still have some questions. I have 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the back. Do the original rings have a gap between the ring and the rim at the outer edge? My set are heavily damaged from the previous owner(s), but they have about a 1/2" gap or so off of the rim. Just want to make sure I know what to look for before setttling or sending back. As always...........thanks for the help!

Re: Trim ring fit

I'm running 15x7 rallies on my '69 Impala, they have a consitant 1/4 gap all the way around between the ring and the rim. 1/2 seems excessive, I should say that the MOST my gap is would be 1/4 and the least maybe 3/16

Question Re: Trim ring fit

Mine may be closer to 1/4". I need to measure. Are there any that fit flush?

Re: Trim ring fit

I finally found some NOS rings (with the four clips) for my '69. They have about a 1/4 " gap. I had a strange problem that made me dump the aftermarket rings that sat flush against the tire. On the fronts, the flex in the wheel while turning rotated the ring to the point where they were cutting the valve stems. Even went to metal sleeved stems til I found some GM rings. I guess you get what you pay for!
