Cool I need tire selection help ASAP!

I have a 69 that i want to buy rear M/T ET Street radials for.I would love to get 275/60R15 for the height but i am scared that i will not be satisfied if they rub.Does anyone here run that size? They will go on 8" Weld Draglite rims. so i am not sure of the backspace. If you think i will be sorry of the 275/60R15 would you get the shorter 275/50R15? I have Cal-Trac's with stock gas shocks. Please advise!!!!

The 275/40's are definitely a safer bet, especially if you don't know BS of your wheels. If I where you I would measure BS first then look into fitment. Is the car at stock ride height? If your wheels have less than 4.5" BS you will more than likely have issues with the inner fender lip.

Re: I need tire selection help ASAP!

when I first got my car it had 236/60's on it then I put 275/60's on, they fit but when I hit a bump they scrubbed. I had to raise the rear about 1.5-2''. All is good now....Here is how it sits......

Re: I need tire selection help ASAP!

shockers69,
Here's my 69 with 275/60/15s MT's. Haven't cleaned it up since the drags. They are on 15x8, 4.5BS wheel vintique wheels but I run a 1" shorter (1/2" each side) rear end. Springs are Calvert split-monoleaf and shocks are QA-1s. They do rub on corners or bumps with turns with only me in the car. I only run them on the drag strip. I use 255/60/15 on the same wheels now and before I shortened the rear and had no rubbing problems. Hope this helps. PM me if you need more photos.

Check out this old thread I commented on
https://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=33099

I had the 26 x 10.5 x 15 MT ET Streets on the rear of my 69 using a 7" Weld rim (its spec'd to do it, previous owner was into dragracing).

I lengthened the rear shackles about 1.5''. I hope you dont have a th350 because if so those 4.10's are gonna be terrible on the street.
