I have already bought my 17x7 and 17x8 tt2's for my 69 Camaro. I was planning on 235/45 on front and 255/45 on rear. From what I have read, this is a safe combo that is likely not to rub. Can I go any larger on the back with an 8" wheel and all stock rearend except for lowering 1"? I like the looks of a little meat on the back. Thanks
Do you have any pictures? Are you running 7" on the front? Is your car lowered? I like the 17" look, but don't care for the rubberband tire look. My taste is the right amount of tire and sidewall bulge. Thanks
don't have pictures handy, but my sidewalls are 40s on the front 35s on the back. The car is lowered 2" in the front, 1.5" in the rear I am running 17x8 in the front, 17x9.5 in the rear. BS is 5.5 in the rear 4.5 in the front, but I would go 4.75 in front if I had to do it over again.
My car is lowered about 1-2" and I'm running 235/40-17s on 17x8 (4.5" bs) in front and 265/40-17s on 17x8 (5" bs) in the rear. No rubbing but I'm planning to switch to 275/50-17s in the rear to pick up some additional height and help with traction. I prefer the look of some taller tires in the rear on a muscle car. The 265/40s were tight on the 8" rims but the 275/50 will work fine. Nitto, Falken and M&H make the 275/50-17s. The M&H is a drag radial and is probably the tire I'll use. I've heard of some folks running 285/40-17s on 17x9.5s on the rear with no rubbing but they had very stiff roadrace style suspensions.
